Date 2009-03-28 Read 11730
IPTV network in schools will be upgraded to be available for IPTV education service in about 10,000 schools by the end of the year.

KCC (Korea Communications Commission) and MEST (Ministry of Education, Science and Technology) decided to build IPTV network in schools in this year by advancing the previous 3 year plan to a year plan and they started to secure additional budget.

As the result, it will be available studying with famous teachers’ on or off-line lectures and multimedia-learning in classrooms from next year when IPTV education network is built completely for a nation.

The business of IPTV network construction in schools is that Internet network which was already constructed in about 240 thousand classrooms for a nation (about 11,000 schools including primary, middle and high schools) is developed up to 50Mbps which makes the IPTV service available. 98% of installed Internet network in schools has that less than 10Mbps level and 33% (about 3300 schools) of among the 98% schools is given 2Mbps level which is the lowest. So, KCC and MEST will develop current inferior network in schools up to 50Mbps level to give an effective education in schools using IPTV.
