Applications open from July 2 to September 3, with the award ceremony held during the first week of December, the Disability Awareness Week
The Korea Communications Commission (Chairman Kim Hong-il), in collaboration with the Community Media Foundation, has announced the launch of the "2024 Media Content Contest for People with Disabilities" to enhance public awareness of disabilities. Applications will be accepted from July 2 to September 3.
This year marks the third edition of the contest, themed "Our Stories Together with Media Content on Disabilities." All South Korean citizens, excluding broadcasters, are eligible to participate in three categories: works themed on disabilities, works produced by people with disabilities, and short forms.
Winning entries will be selected based on a public vote conducted through the E-People at https://www.epeople.go.kr/idea/. Notably, from this year, additional points will be given to content created for broadcasting with closed captions, screen reading, or Korean sign language.
The award ceremony is scheduled to take place during Disability Awareness Week, which commemorates the International Day of People with Disability on December 3. Winning works, including the grand prize and top prizes, will be showcased on television and online platforms, and utilized in various promotional materials.
* In 2023, some winning entries were broadcast through KBS Open Channel.
Entries for the contest can be submitted via email at cc@kcmf.or.kr or by mail* to the CMF. For more detailed information about the Media Content Contest for People with Disabilities, visit the CMF's website at www.kcmf.or.kr or contact the CMF's department in charge at 02-6900-8357.
* Mailing address: Media Access Department, 4th Floor, KC Tower, 74 Gil 4, Gukhoe-daero, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul (07238)
