To activate "i-PIN(Internet Personal Identification Number)", an alternative mean of social security numbers on online, the government improves related laws and systems and strengthens convenience and security through the technology development.
After the issuing authority conforms personal identities through the "i-PIN" instead of the social security number, online users can be granted ID and password. It can reduce the risk of personal information leakage.
To fully adopt this service early on, KCC(Korean Communications Commissions) will construct related infrastructures by 2011. KCC announced it will apply to all private online services by 2013, fifty thousand sites by 2015. All online services will be prohibited from using Social Security numbers.
