Development of Green Communications equipments speeds up

KCC(Korea Communications Commission) announced that they will supports KRW 10billon for the development of Green Communications equipments such as "Low power repeater" and "FTTH(Fiber To The Home)" and the research in the global green standards promoting by ITU(International Telecommunication Union) for the part of Green IT strategy.
This KCC's strategy links with Green strategy of the major Communications companies including KT and SK Telecom. Therefore, it is expected that the development of Communications equipments for Low-power and Low-Carbon will speed up.
KCC and related enterprises have progressing tasks of Green IT research and development, for example, *the development of Green low-power repeater, Green FTTH solution converting existing PSTN(Public Switched Telephone Network) into Hyper Speed IP Network and *Green IDC(Internet Data Center) etc.
Solar WiBro base station project which is very effective for saving energy is already underway by KCC and Communications companies.
Communications experts estimate that not only Communications companies but also general members could save maximum 20% of power consumption if the changeover from PSTN to FTTH infrastructures comes true.
