Title	KCC PARTICIPATED IN THE AI GOVERNANCE GLOBAL 2024 AND A HIGH-LEVEL MEETING WITH THE HACA

On Wednesday, June 5, Vice Chairman Lee Sang-in of the Korea Communications Commission (KCC, Chairman Kim Hong-il) participated in the AI Governance Global 2024 held in Brussels, Belgium, invited by the International Association of Privacy Professionals. IAPP: The biggest personal information protection association established to strengthen the role and the expertise of experts in the field Vice Chairman Lee presented the AI user protection measures of the KCC, introducing the tentative Act on Protection of AI Services Users and the Guideline on GAI user protection, the measures the KCC is preparing and highlighting the need for organic response between countries. In addition, he stated, "Regulations shouldn't hinder technological innovation, but it's crucial to establish rules that everyone can trust from the start and to develop best practices and standards," adding, "We should introduce interoperable regulations to strengthen regulation enforcement power." He also had a meeting with the Director General for Communications Networks, Content, and Technology (CNECT) of the EU to exchange opinions regarding legislation of the EU AI Act and met the CEO of the UK DRCF* to share digital regulations in both countries and information on the UK's institutional cooperation on overlapped digital regulations. The Digital Regulation Cooperation Forum brings four UK regulators, CMA, ICO, OFCOM, and FCA together in July 2000 to improve regulations and policies in the digital market. Subsequently, Vice Chairman Lee met the President of the HACA of Morocco. This meeting aims to plant the seed of exchange and cooperation in the broadcasting and communications sector with Morocco for the first time among African countries.
